Pursuant to Art. 4 No. 1 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR), “processing” refers to any operation or set of operations performed on personal data, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organization, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction.

With the following privacy policy, we inform you in particular about the type, scope, purpose, duration, and legal basis of the processing of personal data, where we determine the purposes and means of such processing either alone or jointly with others. In addition, we inform you about the external components we use for optimization purposes and to improve the quality of user experience, insofar as third parties process data on their own responsibility.

Cookies

a) Session cookies

We use so-called cookies on our website. Cookies are small text files or other storage technologies that are placed and stored on your end device by your browser. These cookies process certain information such as your browser or location data or your IP address.

This processing makes our website more user-friendly, efficient, and secure – for example, by enabling the display of our site in different languages or the use of a shopping cart function.

The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR if these cookies are used to initiate or fulfill a contract.

If the processing is not for contract initiation or execution, our legitimate interest lies in improving the functionality of our website. In that case, the legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR.

These session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.

b) Third-party cookies

Our website may also use cookies from partner companies with whom we collaborate for purposes of advertising, analytics, or functionality enhancement.

Details regarding these cookies – especially their purposes and legal bases – are outlined below.

c) Disabling cookies

You can prevent or restrict the installation of cookies through your browser settings. You can also delete already stored cookies at any time. The steps and measures required depend on the browser you use. Please consult your browser’s help section or contact its support. Flash cookies cannot be controlled via browser settings but must be disabled via your Flash Player settings.

Restricting or disabling cookies may lead to limited functionality of our website.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics on our website, a web analytics service by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, a subsidiary of Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”).

Google Analytics helps us analyze site usage and measure the effectiveness of our marketing. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR. Users may withdraw their consent at any time for the future via our cookie settings (Art. 7 para. 3 GDPR).

Data such as time, location, frequency of page visits, and interactions (e.g., clicks, ads viewed) including IP addresses are sent to Google servers in the USA and stored for up to 2 months.

Google LLC participates in the “Data Privacy Framework”, which is recognized by the EU under Art. 45 GDPR:

Google may also record “demographic data” such as age, gender, and interests through automated analytics. If personalized ads are activated in your Google account and consent is given, Google may analyze behavior across devices and provide anonymized statistics.

To deactivate cross-device tracking, users can disable “personalized ads” in their Google account:

We use Google Analytics with IP anonymization. This shortens the user’s IP address within the EU or EEA before it is transmitted to the USA.

Google uses this data to evaluate site usage, compile reports, and provide other services. Google may pass data to third parties if legally required or if others process data on its behalf.

According to Google, IP addresses will not be merged with other Google data. More info here:

If you object to this tracking, install the browser add-on for deactivation.

Google Fonts

Our site uses Google Fonts to display external fonts, provided by Google Ireland Limited, Dublin, Ireland.

To load the fonts, your browser connects to Google servers in the USA.

Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the consistent and optimized presentation of our content.

Google may receive the IP address and referring site in the process.
